Q. Desktop not showing

Hello Khurram how are you doing
mosdt of the time , it is due to a virus. in order to solve this remove the following registry keys:

first enter your username and password and login

then press CRTL+ALT+DEL keys on the in order , choose task manager , the task manager will open , click on file new task , type regedit and then press ok

navigate to the following keys and delete the key only not the whole branch  " i attached a picture to this answer to show you what to delete"

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\explorer.exe

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\iexplorer.exe

reboot then you will be able to logon with desktop  , update your anti virus and run a full system scan on your computer

or if you already changed in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\winlogon\Shell Explorer.exe
or done something else witrh that value then

navigate to that location that you gave me and then do the following

when you press on winlogon , at the right preview pane "where you can see alot of things for example allocatedcdrom" right click on any empty area and choose New->string value

name that value Shell and then press enter

double click on Shell , and under value data enter explorer.exe and ok

then exit regedit and reboot your system
